The Scimitar Evolution
Scimitar Marine has a proud history of development. It all began with a dream of two close friends, Bryan Bradford and Greg Byth, to own an exceptional and economically powered catamaran.
After a lifetime of experience sailing dinghies through to ski boats and family cruisers, both friends believed there had to be a better formula for a power boat. Better fuel economy, less maintenance, reduced running costs and the best seagoing capabilities were priorities. They wanted to find a hull form that would deliver all of these qualities and decided that a catamaran was the only logical choice.
On its launch in 1997, Scimitar 1010 won the coveted Australian Cruiser of the Year Award against a highly competitive field of well established and recognised brands across the country. It set a new benchmark against which other new designs are still judged today.
Seven more Scimitars were then built before Bryan Bradford took over as Managing Director of the company now known as Scimitar Marine. A number of the original staff continue to work as very important members of the Scimitar Marine team. Customers benefit from the vast experience and pride that the production crew have in building great quality products.
The industry has achieved significant progress in engine performance, electronics, finishes and fittings over the years and Scimitar has embraced these advancements. Scimitar has, however, maintained its timeless appeal and fundamental strengths which characterise its ongoing success.
Today there are 58 Scimitar 1010's on the water, with many new and repeat customers enjoying the lifestyle and economy of Scimitar Marine's proven formula.
